I am amazed by this unit.
We dig deep into Mexican family system.
It talks about how Mexican family system change when they move into a new environment.
Our professor asked for few students to represent different family members in a mexican family and started to bring us through what they going through.
When we were looking at how the family system changes, our feelings slowly went down.
Professor said that people always think it is mexican's culture to live altogether in a small house.
However, we saw the real picture on this norm.
This is not their culture.
When I was focusing in the class, I started to think about myself.
I am chinese.
People always think that we are hard working.
They think that we are born with it, it is our culture.
However, I truly feel that it is what the world and society forcing us to be like that.
We might born to feel like we should work hard, however, the world telling us that if we dont work hard, we would starve and be homeless.
We dont want our families to be like that.
We are family-oriented, so we work hard and study hard.
A lot of things that people think we chinese are, mainly because the society making our group to be like that.
I feel truly touched in this class, and feel that myself should not judge a book from its cover from the start.
I should dig deeper.
Things are not what we think they are as norms.
